News Release for SITE: “West Texas Town” — New Single Available Now!
R.W. Hampton has released “West Texas Town” featuring Jake Hooker & The Outsiders, the third single from his upcoming album My Country, set to arrive May 29, 2026.
Originally written by Dean Dillon and Robert Earl Keen, “West Texas Town” is a great fit for R.W. who now calls Amarillo his “town home”.
A fun Texas swing tune that rocks along with twin fiddles, the song adds levity with lines about heading back to his “built right Betty” girl back in Amarillo. And anyone who knows West Texas knows that besides I 40 there are several routes to get you back – via the infamous Hwy 287 or up from Plainview – and ya better be careful if you are rolling in too fast!
“West Texas Town” was recorded in a “live” format in Burleson, Texas at Allegro Studios with Aarom Meador as the co-producer and engineer. Aarom was also the engineer and a co-producer along with Rich O’Brien and Lisa Hampton on the rest of the songs from the new My Country album.
The single’s artwork, photographed by Scott Slusher, and designed by Charlie Engle, reflects that same sense of authenticity — capturing the landscape, lifestyle, and spirit behind the music.
“West Texas Town” featuring Jake Hooker & The Outsiders is available now on all major streaming platforms.
