“The themes on this album are especially relevant to me,” Western music icon R.W. Hampton explains about his latest adventure.  My Country, is a 14-track collection, which fuses songs and spoken-word that have never lost their timeless message. The album is a cross-section of material, both original and covers that center on themes of cowboy life, love for the land, a sense of liberty, and his Western heritage.

Hampton has found his place as a legend in Western music, both a singer and songwriter, which comes as no surprise to those who know this man has been a lifelong cowboy. A native Texan, R.W. Hampton’s songs originated from his time working on ranches across the West.

A lifelong cowboy and native Texan, Hampton draws from decades spent working ranches across the West. The album opens with “Living Free,” written by his son Colter, and journeys through stories of perseverance, heritage, sacrifice, and home. Highlights include fan favorite “Donnie Catch a Horse,” the heartfelt family ballad “Bonnie,” the Texas swing tune “West Texas Town,” and moving renditions of “The Ballad of Ira Hayes,” “God Bless America Again,” and “What a Wonderful World.”

At its heart, My Country is a celebration of the values that have shaped R.W.’s life and career—a love for the land, a respect for those who came before us, and hope for the generations yet to come.
