RW Joins Cast of Sod & Stubble at Wichita Premiere

April 10, 2025

RW was thrilled to be part of the premiere for the new Ken Spurgeon film, “Sod and Stubble” on March 28 at the Wichita Orpheum Theatre.

RW, who portrays Doc Poole in Ken’s wonderful new film, “Sod and Stubble,” joined others in the cast, including Bailey Chase, Dodie Brown, Mary McDonough and Buck Taylor among others for a full house premiere.

“It was a really special night,” said RW.  “I’ve had the privilege of working with Ken on ‘The Contested Plains’ (2022) and Ken has a way of bringing history to life in the most powerful way. ‘Sod & Stubble’ is a really great story and Ken and his team did an amazing job telling the story.”

Filmed in Downs, Wichita and El Dorado, “Sod and Stubble” tells the story of the Henry and Rosie Ise family who homesteaded in Osborne County Kansas in the 1870s and battled through the many challenges of homesteading on the Kansas plains. The original story was written by John Ise in the 1930s with the help and remembrances of his mother Rosa Ise. In the 1990s, Von Rothenberger of Lucas added over 150 pages of additional text to the new release. Now, the story of Henry and Rosie Ise comes to life on the screen through the work of the award-winning cast and crew.

“Sod and Stubble” features Bailey Chase, Dodie Brown, Barry Corbin, Mary McDonough, Buck Taylor, Darby Hinton, Rudy Ramos, Wyatt McCrea, R.W. Hampton, Mark Mannette, Delno Ebie and more. The film was written and directed by Ken Spurgeon. Appearing at the event in Downs will be Chase, Brown, Taylor, Hinton, Ramos, McCrea, RW, Spurgeon and more.
