The Western Rewind

Posted on: December 18th, 2025 by Lance Cowan

An all-consuming love for classic cowboy songs brings together these four musical acts, each classics themselves. Reverent tradition-shapers Pipp Gillette & Lloyd Wright, songbook standard-writer R.W. Hampton, old-school-meets-new-school stylist Sam Platts, and hit-making harmonists Sons of the Pioneers bring you an evening of stellar playlist rotations, better curated than your favorite mixtape. So, put your twang down, flip it, and reverse it. It’s time for the western rewind.

Leppies & Other Mavericks

Posted on: December 18th, 2025 by Lance Cowan

They’re obstinate. They’re wiley. They think they know better, and they don’t follow the rules. And no, we’re not talking about this show’s lineup. They are the strays of our lives—the characters who test our skills and patience, and occasionally even get the best of us. And yet there is no denying ranch life would be a lot less interesting without them. Musician R.W. Hampton, reciter Ross Knox, and poet Terry Nash come together for a (hopefully) charitable examination of whether leppies and mavericks—animal and otherwise—might just be here to challenge us to become better (cow) people.

Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame

Posted on: January 30th, 2025 by Lance Cowan

The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame has named celebrated Western Singer and Cowboy RW Hampton as its  2025 Hall of Fame Spirit of Texas Award recipient. This award celebration will take place at Billy Bob’s Texas on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Norris Foundation and JJ & Bobby Norris, the evening features cocktails, a silent auction, and a cowboy-inspired dining experience leading up to the 7 p.m. induction ceremony.

The Spirit of Texas Award was established to celebrate the uniqueness of Texas and Texans. It recognizes individuality, achievement, style, independent, innovative and forward thinking.

“To be inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and to receive their coveted, Spirit of Texas Award is, as Charlie Russell would say, ‘Big medicine for me!’” said Hampton.  “When I look at a list of the inductees from previous years, like George Strait, Cody Johnson, Barry Corbin, Tommy Lee Jones, Aaron Watson, Red Steagall, Lyle Lovett, Bob Wills, Willie Nelson and Don Edwards, well,  it kinda sucks the wind out of me! I am mighty proud and honored to join that list!
