Happy Independence Day, America!

July 2, 2010

By R.W. Hampton

As Americans around the world get ready with family and friends to celebrate our Independence Day, I’m contemplating the few precious hours my family and I will spend with my son, US Marine Corps Sgt. Cooper Hampton, later this month before he leaves on his second combat deployment. It is a strange irony and a sobering reminder that while much has changed in our country, the cost of freedom is still the same.

So here I am with another video… a little tribute to America and all the men and women who have paid the price for our freedoms. If you like this little song, please consider forwarding it along to share with your friends. And of course, I always love to hear what you think.

  1. Savoring my deep reaction to hearing this song. It should be all over the Internet and all forms of media to reach around the world. Am trying to figure out how to submit it.

Upon hearing RW, I called Sharon Mansker, the lady who needed the last little push RW offered when he sang in Monterey at the church with a broken leg and ribs. She accepted the Lord right after that. She doesn’t, however, have a computer so I put the phone next to the sound. Aaron hasn’t come in yet, so he hasn’t heard it.

There aren’t a whole bunch of songs written by RW, but when he does write one and adds his God-given voice, he hits a home run!

Am going to call some folks and see what can be done. Thank you, Lisa and RW for sharing this with all of us. Continued blessings on your son and your whole family. You are a model for all of us and a true gift of God.

    Hugs from afar,

    Dorothy

    R. W., hard to find the words to express how I feel about this song. My husband served in the Marines during the Viet Nam era. I lost a cousin and a friend in Viet Nam. Our son served in Desert Storm, he came home but not the same as when he left. So I will simply say “Thank You.” I pray that God richley Blesses you. Bobbi

    Mr. Hampton,
I know you from Shepherd’s Valley in Egan. My father sent me your link, and I must say, I am looking forward to learning how to play your song. I hit the plane for AFG in September and I hope I have a chance to meet your son over there. Keep up the fires back home!

    Take care,

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. This song is just a reflection of what I feel and my way to honor those who have given so much for our freedoms.
